Description: OpenBook software converts printed documents or graphic-based text into an electronic text format on a personal computer (PC), using high-quality speech and optical character recognition (OCR) technology. OpenBook is designed to enhance success for people who are blind or have low vision who need access to printed and electronic materials.

This software does not utilize a database. All files are saved within the OpenBook application. For example, when a user signs in, OpenBook uses C:/Program Files/Freedom Scientific/OpenBook/9.0/Users/default/Library as the default file location. OpenBook has its own file format called OBX, which is the default file format whenever a user opens or saves a file. Both the default file location and format can be changed by going into application settings.
