Description: EditPad is a fully configurable text editor software. This technology includes multiple functionalities for advanced text file editing such as keystroke macros, a built-in spell checker, and multiple file comparison capabilities. EditPad includes built-in Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) support to allow users to upload web pages and scripts directly to a web server and edit web pages directly on the server without having to download the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) files to their computer first. Additionally, this technology has built-in support for many files types and can be configured for files not supported out of the box.

This technology comes in two editions, EditPad Lite and EditPad Pro. This entry covers both editions.

This technology does not utilize a database to store data, as files generated by this technology are either saved to the user`s local drive or exported to a user-defined web server.
Technology/Standard Usage Requirements: Users must ensure their use of this technology/standard is consistent with VA policies and standards, including, but not limited to, VA Handbooks 6102 and 6500; VA Directives 6004, 6513, and 6517; and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, including Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). Users must ensure sensitive data is properly protected in compliance with all VA regulations. Prior to use of this technology, users should check with their supervisor, Information Security Officer (ISO), Facility Chief Information Officer (CIO), or local Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) representative to ensure that all actions are consistent with current VA policies and procedures prior to implementation.
