Description: SourceGear Vault is a cross-platform version system for small and medium-sized teams. SourceGear Vault was also designed to be a replacement for Visual SourceSafe, providing new features and improved functionality along with a familiar interface. This technology is based on a client / server architecture using technologies such as Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server to store data and Internet Information Services (IIS) Web Services for increased performance, scalability, and security.

This technology is available in Standard or Pro editions. SourceGear Vault Standard is for users wanting only version control. SourceGear Vault Pro is a version control and bug tracking solution for professional development teams. This analysis covers both editions.

The TRM decisions in this entry only apply to technologies and versions owned, operated, managed, patched, and version-controlled by VA. This includes technologies deployed as software on VMs within VA-controlled cloud environments (e.g. VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC)). Cloud services provided by the VAEC and those controlled and managed by an external Cloud Service Provider (i.e. SaaS) are not in the purview of the TRM. For more information on the use of cloud services and cloud-based products within VA, including VA private clouds, please see the Enterprise Cloud Solutions Office (ECSO) Portal at: https://vaww.portal.va.gov/sites/ECS/SitePages/Home.aspx

Please Note: An enterprise license is available for Rational products, which are similar TRM approved technologies.
