Description: Genie is a fitting and counseling technology designed to assist hearing care professionals in providing hearing aid fittings and meeting the needs of each individual user. Genie is designed for high-precision first time fittings that increases initial user acceptance and reduces the need for follow-up fine tuning.

If this technology is used as standalone technology, data is stored in a Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server database. If this technology is not used as a standalone technology, data is stored in NOAH.

Note: The installation of Genie includes Genie and Genie2. Genie2 is a new fitting platform for Oticon introduced in 2016 to handle support for the Opn hearing aid. Genie supports Alta2, Nera2, Ria2, Dynamo, and Sensei SP hearing aids.

There is a similar TRM entry for a product called Genie Medical, also offered by the same vendor. Genie and Genie Medical support a different set of devices.

This entry covers the Desktop Edition of this technology and not any mobile versions. Users must ensure sensitive data is properly protected in compliance with all VA regulations. Prior to use of this technology, users should check with their supervisor, Information Security Officer (ISO), Facility Chief Information Officer (CIO), or local Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) representative to ensure that all actions are consistent with current VA policies and procedures prior to implementation.
