Description: iText Core is the framework for dynamic Portable Document Format (PDF) document generation and manipulation. iText Core allows the user to assemble, expand, extract, split and interact with any PDF file. This software can integrate with a number of products, including Eclipse Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools (BIRT), and Jasper Reports.

Note: iText Core is not a PDF viewer; iText Core cannot convert PDF to an image, nor can iText Core be used to print a PDF, but it provides access to the objects that form a PDF document and to the content stream of each page.

Note: This software has two editions. iTextCore offers an open source edition that is free and can only be used for non-production environments, while the other edition is fee-based and can be used in production environments. The scope of this entry is for both editions.
