Description: The GAUSS Platform is a complete analysis environment for mathematical modeling and statistical analysis. This technology includes functionalities for estimation, forecasting, simulation, visualization, and other analysis tasks. This platform is customizable and allows users to create and modify algorithms for statistical analysis, explore data graphically in an interactive environment, perform calculations, and analyze results. Users are able to configure interactive features to set up a workflow. Additionally, the GAUSS Platform includes programmatic methods which may be used to create two-dimensional and three-dimensional graphics for data analysis and presentations.

This technology may be configured to store data in multiple databases depending on the file type being saved. Comma Separated Values (CSV) files may be saved in a MySQL database, Excel Files in a PostgreSQL database, statistical analysis software (SAS) files in a Microsoft SQL Server database, Stata files in an Oracle database, and text delimited files in an DB2 database.

This technology is available in six licenses, Single User (Permanent), Single User (Annual), Floating Network (Permanent), Unlimited Site License (Annual), GAUSS in the Classroom (Annual/Academic), Instructional Student Lab (Annual/Academic) and Site License (Annual). Technology/Standard Usage Requirements: Users must ensure their use of this technology/standard is consistent with VA policies and standards, including, but not limited to, VA Handbooks 6102 and 6500; VA Directives 6004, 6513, and 6517; and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, including Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). Users must ensure sensitive data is properly protected in compliance with all VA regulations. Prior to use of this technology, users should check with their supervisor, Information Security Officer (ISO), Facility Chief Information Officer (CIO), or local Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) representative to ensure that all actions are consistent with current VA policies and procedures prior to implementation.
