Description: International Business Machines (IBM) Transformation Extender (ITX), formerly WebSphere Transformation Extender (WTX), enables organizations to integrate industry based customer, supplier, and business partner transactions across an enterprise. This technology performs transformation and routing of data from source systems to target systems in batch and real-time environments.

IBM Transformation Extender provides the following features:
  • Connectivity to a range of mainframe, legacy and enterprise applications, databases, messaging systems, and external information sources.
  • A library of 120 pre-built functions to reduce development time and simplify specification of rules for validation, transformation and routing.
  • Single, universal transformation solution that works across all of IBM`s key integration solutions.
  • Extends Sterling Business-to-Business (B2B) Integrator, IBM`s Integration Bus, and Business Process with transformation and validation capabilities.
  • Assists in management and adaptation to industry standards with Industry-pack updates for Healthcare, Financial Services, Insurance, and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).
  • Deploy IBM Transformation Extender within virtualized and private cloud architectures.
  • Process large volumes of data efficiently with one pass lookup, validation, and transformation.
  • Access data directly from source applications for data integrity and high throughput transformation capabilities.
  • Aggregate disparate data and information stores to provide new business information views and services.
  • Reuse the same transformation assets throughout the enterprise infrastructure to provide consistency and scalability without the need to write custom code.
This technology does not contain a database. However, this technology has the capability to import and export data from different types of databases, including Oracle Database, Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server, DB2, and Extensible Markup Language (XML) format.

Please note: As of Version 9.0, WebSphere Transformation Extender (WTX) has changed names to IBM Transformation Extender (ITX).

The TRM decisions in this entry only apply to technologies and versions owned, operated, managed, patched, and version-controlled by VA. This includes technologies deployed as software installations on VMs within VA-controlled cloud environments (e.g. VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC)). Cloud services provided by the VAEC, which are listed in the VAEC Service Catalog, and those controlled and managed by an external Cloud Service Provider (i.e. SaaS) are not in the purview of the TRM. For more information on the use of cloud services and cloud-based products within VA, including VA private clouds, please see the Enterprise Cloud Solutions Office (ECSO) Portal at: https://dvagov.sharepoint.com/sites/OITEPMOECSO
