Description: Xeleris software is designed for use by Nuclear Medicine (NM) or Radiology practitioners for display, processing, archiving, printing, reporting, and networking of NM data, including planar scans (Static, Whole Body, Dynamic, Multi-Gated) and tomographic scans (Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT), Gated SPECT, dedicated Positron Emission Tomography (PET), or Camera-Based-PET) acquired by gamma cameras or PET scanners. The NM or PET data can be coupled with registered and/or fused Computed Tomography (CT) or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans, and with physiological signals to depict, localize, and/or quantify the distribution of radionuclide tracers and anatomical structures in scanned body tissue for clinical diagnostic purposes.

Xeleris software runs on a dedicated workstation or in a server-client configuration, and sends and receives medical data based on Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) protocol. Patient information, images, curves, and reports are stored in a proprietary local database using DICOM format. The database resides in the D:\Database directory. There are no products available to access the database outside the Xeleris application. The Xeleris application accesses the database via the database server. The data is transferred on a Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) using DICOM-Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) to/from other DICOM-based Servers/Workstations, such as Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) or other Xeleris workstations. Data encryption is not supported.

The TRM decisions in this entry only apply to technologies and versions owned, operated, managed, patched, and version-controlled by VA. This includes technologies deployed as software on VMs within VA-controlled cloud environments (e.g. VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC)). Technology/Standard Usage Requirements: Users must ensure their use of this technology/standard is consistent with VA policies and standards, including, but not limited to, VA Handbooks 6102 and 6500; VA Directives 6004, 6513, and 6517; and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, including Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). Users must ensure sensitive data is properly protected in compliance with all VA regulations. Prior to use of this technology, users should check with their supervisor, Information Security Officer (ISO), Facility Chief Information Officer (CIO), or local Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) representative to ensure that all actions are consistent with current VA policies and procedures prior to implementation.
