Description: Unique Device Identification (UDI) Tracker is a web-based implantable device tracking technology designed for use in either an operating room (OR) or interventional suite environment. The technology`s browser-based functionality gives each site given a unique web address for access. UDI Tracker manages and tracks inventory of all implants including tissue, orthopedic, and cardiovascular and implantable devices throughout the device life cycle from receipt of device through recall management. The technology can function with devices to scan two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) barcodes for inventory management. This technology is capable of capturing GS1, Health Industry Business Communications Council (HIBCC) and International Standard for Blood and Transplant (ISBT) barcodes.

This assessment covers both UDI Tracker Operation Room (OR) and UDI Tracker Interventional. The two editions share the same release history and basic functions but are designed for different environments.

Data collected by this software is stored in a MySQL Database. This is the only relational database that this software is compatible with. This technology can integrate with Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA), where VistA will receive the information that is stored in the MySQL Database. UDI Tracker is integrated with and is installed directly in VistA and is therefore hosted on the VA network.

The TRM decisions in this entry only apply to technologies and versions owned, operated, managed, patched, and version-controlled by VA. This includes technologies deployed as software installations on VMs within VA-controlled cloud environments (e.g. VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC)). Cloud services provided by the VAEC, which are listed in the VAEC Service Catalog, and those controlled and managed by an external Cloud Service Provider (i.e. SaaS) are not in the purview of the TRM. For more information on the use of cloud services and cloud-based products within VA, including VA private clouds, please see the Enterprise Cloud Solutions Office (ECSO) Portal at: https://dvagov.sharepoint.com/sites/OITECSO
