Description: LinkSolv Record Linkage Software is used for standardizing reported data for record linkage purposes and computing Bayesian probabilities that candidate record pairs are true links. This technology finds true linked pairs by comparing data values on candidate pairs of records and calculating the probability that each pair is a true match given comparison outcomes: agreement, disagreement, or missing.

All solutions provided by this vendor are Microsoft Access applications. The original data files do not have to be Microsoft Access tables. They can be text files, Excel worksheets, Structured Query Language (SQL) Server tables, Statistical Analysis System (SAS) datasets, etc. The technology`s results can be exported in the same format as the original data. Query processing and data storage for record linkage can be done on a computer using Microsoft Access or on a network server using Microsoft SQL Server. Microsoft SQL Server is only required if users want to create data tables in SQL Server.
Technology/Standard Usage Requirements: Users must ensure their use of this technology/standard is consistent with VA policies and standards, including, but not limited to, VA Handbooks 6102 and 6500; VA Directives 6004, 6513, and 6517; and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, including Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). Users must ensure sensitive data is properly protected in compliance with all VA regulations. Prior to use of this technology, users should check with their supervisor, Information Security Officer (ISO), Facility Chief Information Officer (CIO), or local Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) representative to ensure that all actions are consistent with current VA policies and procedures prior to implementation.
