Description: The AudioCANCEL software module is an outbound telephone application for the AudioCARE platform that informs patients when an upcoming appointment has been cancelled. The module operates under pre-defined criteria to compile a list of patients to call and can recite standard or customized cancellation messages.

The AudioCANCEL module uses an InterSystems Enterprise Cache Protocol (ECP) to connect to the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA) to access patient data to identify the criteria necessary to call a certain patient. All Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Protected Health Information (PHI) used during the calling process is retrieved from VistA and stored in the Cache database or Intuitive Reliable Interoperative Scalable (IRIS) for Health in order to create reports which detail the calls that have been made.

Technology/Standard Usage Requirements: Users must ensure their use of this technology/standard is consistent with VA policies and standards, including, but not limited to, VA Handbooks 6102 and 6500; VA Directives 6004, 6513, and 6517; and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, including Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). Users must ensure sensitive data is properly protected in compliance with all VA regulations. Prior to use of this technology, users should check with their supervisor, Information Security Officer (ISO), Facility Chief Information Officer (CIO), or local Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) representative to ensure that all actions are consistent with current VA policies and procedures prior to implementation.
