Description: Aphasia Tutor 1: Words +Out Loud is an aphasia treatment software that is designed to improve recognition and retrieval of letters and single words for patients who are brain injured. This technology speaks the cues and answers in a human voice and provides 8 difficulty levels ranging from letter matching to picture naming. This technology shows the patient a letter, word, or picture and the patient responds by choosing or typing an answer. If the answer is incorrect, the program gives the patient hints in order to help them identify the correct answer.

There are three versions of this software: Home, Deluxe, and Professional. The Deluxe and Professional versions add memory and hint options for greater control over the difficulty level. The Deluxe version adds single-user progress tracking, whereas the Professional version has a two-user license and multi-user progress tracking. This entry covers all three versions.

The Home version does not store any data. The Deluxe and Professional versions store information on the score/result that the patient received in a therapy session. This score is saved in a plain text file, locally, within the program. Additionally, users can utilize a code or alias to identify a patient (instead of their name) to help keep data anonymous.
