Description: CaptionMaker is a closed captioning software that provides the ability to author, edit, encode, and repurpose video captions for television (TV), web, and mobile delivery. This technology encodes in standard and high definition video with Federal Communications Commission compliant video captions, and includes TV broadcast export features, as well as TV networks and post-production facilities. This technology accepts text from a variety of sources and allows editing, positioning, and synchronization of captions and subtitles with video using a time code.

Note, that there are three versions of this technology: Desktop, Pro, and Enterprise. This entry covers all versions of this technology as they all provides the same basic functionality. The Pro and Enterprise editions offer additional capabilities not available in the Desktop edition.

This technology utilizes a propriety language database for matching speaking with text.

Prior to use of this technology, users should check with their supervisor, Information Security Officer (ISO), Facility Chief Information Officer (CIO), or local Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) representative to ensure that all actions are consistent with current VA policies and procedures prior to implementation.
