Description: The Composite Health Care System (CHCS) is a mainframe-based system that was developed using the Massachusetts General Hospital Utility Multi-Programming System (MUMPS) language. This technology allows clinicians to electronically perform patient appointment processes and scheduling, order laboratory tests, authorize radiology procedures, and prescribe medications.

Per the vendor: As of April 2024, CHCS functions have been incorporated into the DOD’s electronic health record, MHS GENESIS, at 58 of 106 sites. CHCS will be fully decommissioned in Fiscal Year 2025.

This technology stores data in Cache Database and encrypts data at rest using Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 128-bit encryption.

The ongoing support for Caché is being reduced as the product has been replaced by InterSystems Intuitive Reliable Interoperative Scalable (IRIS) for Health.

Please note that there is no dedicated webpage for this technology.
