Description: Schrodinger Konstanz Information Miner (KNIME) Extensions, together with the open source KNIME interface, are designed to provide a means for researchers to develop, validate, and deploy multi-step computational workflows. KNIME is a data pipelining technology that provides a platform for researchers looking for a way to combine best-of-breed technologies from commercial software, academic programs, and in-house code. Independent of the Schrodinger Extensions, KNIME incorporates over 100 processing nodes for data manipulation and mining, including analysis models from the Wek data-mining environment. Additionally, the software includes plug-ins that run R-scripts, giving users access to a library of statistical routines. The Schrodinger KNIME Extensions nodes build upon the existing KNIME infrastructure and provide access to ligand- and structure-based tools from the Schrodinger Biologics Suite. Prime, MacroModel, and Jaguar have Schrodinger nodes that enable core functionality.

Users do not have to download KNIME to use Schrodinger`s KNIME Extensions. The Schrodinger KNIME Extensions package includes a compatible, publicly-available version of KNIME. Schrodinger`s KNIME Extensions run outside of the Biologics Suite. The software is a separate interface that can use the modules within the Biologics Suite to create workflows. Schrodinger`s KNIME Extensions is automatically downloaded with the Biologics Suite, but can only be activated with a (commercial) license key (which is currently free). The software stores data in the form of files, locally, on the user`s hard drive. If the underlying storage devices are encrypted, then by proxy all file data will be encrypted at the hardware level. No additional encryption is a part of any of Schrodinger`s file formats.

This software does not utilize a database.
