Description: Safe Label System (SLS) Administration Tool (AT) is a Windows-based Java application used to create and maintain the drug formulary and configuration required by SLS devices. This software is deployed at the pharmacy and functions to improve the safety, accuracy, consistency, and compliancy of medications during preparation and labeling. SLS AT is included with the purchase of SLS devices.

The SLS AT application can be installed as a web-based application so that it is accessible via a web browser. The application is typically installed on a VA owned and managed server housed in a VA facility. This technology uses an embedded Apache Derby database (Java Database) for storage of drug information, configuration information, and log files.

The SLS Administration Tool creates a data folder on the same computer drive or share that the application is installed on. The data consists of drug information (National Drug Code (NDC), drug name, and other commercially available information) and information on how it should be labeled (color, label design, warning messages, etc.).

The only data encrypted on the SLS Administration Tool system are passwords used as part of the Secure Shell (SSH) communications between the SLS Administration Tool and SLS 500i/SLS 550i devices. These passwords can be configured by the site. The encryption is Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA)-512. Additionally, important data in the drug formulary database stored by the SLS Administration Tool is cryptographically signed to prevent intentional or accidental modification.
