Description: System Control Center (SCC) Software is used in conjunction with the TransLogic Pneumatic Tube System (PTS). The PTS delivers items such as medical materials, medications, intravenous devices (IVs), paperwork, and lab samples via a series of physical tubes, which are built within a hospital or medical facility. The PTS solution consists of one SCC computer, transmission devices, piping, and optional remote client computers. SCC Software controls and monitors the various transmission devices in the tube system through dedicated serial communication lines or the site`s Ethernet network. The software uses a client-server architecture that communicates through a Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/Internet Protocol (IP) connection. SCC Software is included with the purchase of the TransLogic Pneumatic Tube System. This technology does not have a dedicated website.

SCC Software utilizes a PostgreSQL database to store data.
Technology/Standard Usage Requirements: Users must ensure their use of this technology/standard is consistent with VA policies and standards, including, but not limited to, VA Handbooks 6102 and 6500; VA Directives 6004, 6513, and 6517; and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, including Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). Users must ensure sensitive data is properly protected in compliance with all VA regulations. Prior to use of this technology, users should check with their supervisor, Information Security Officer (ISO), Facility Chief Information Officer (CIO), or local Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) representative to ensure that all actions are consistent with current VA policies and procedures prior to implementation.
