Description: The Curry Acquisition module consists of all primary features and functions needed for acquiring high-quality electroencephalogram (EEG)/ evoked potentials (EP)/ event-related potentials (ERP) data and online/real-time processing. This module is used to acquire data from the amplifier systems produced by Compumedics Neuroscan. With the Acquisition module, users can define the amplifier settings, the montage, and visual layout of the data display and conduct advanced online processing like artifact reduction, online estimation of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), simple event averaging, conditional averaging (such as n-back), and calculation of difference waveforms, with parallel spectral analysis windows of all time waveform data representations.

The Acquisition module is part of the Curry Neuroimaging Suite. The Curry Neuroimaging Suite software is divided into several modules that can stand alone or work together. The Curry 7 modules utilize Microsoft Access, while the Curry 8 modules utilize SQLite, by default. The technology uses a database structure that allows for optimized data management. Within the database, subjects can inherit the parent`s parameters, allowing automated processing to be built into the database. Additionally, macros can be developed to handle most processing task, complete with the ability to design interactive and tutorial programs. The database is used to select the files users want to work with. The database stores only references to data files, such as their file names and folder paths, and not the files themselves. Database files do not contain the data themselves but rather point to the files on the hard drive (or external drive).
Technology/Standard Usage Requirements: Users must ensure their use of this technology/standard is consistent with VA policies and standards, including, but not limited to, VA Handbooks 6102 and 6500; VA Directives 6004, 6513, and 6517; and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, including Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). Users must ensure sensitive data is properly protected in compliance with all VA regulations. Prior to use of this technology, users should check with their supervisor, Information Security Officer (ISO), Facility Chief Information Officer (CIO), or local Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) representative to ensure that all actions are consistent with current VA policies and procedures prior to implementation.
