Description: Sencha Ext JavaScript (JS) is a JavaScript framework for building cross-platform web applications targeting desktop, tablets, and smartphones. Ext JS leverages Hypertext Markup Language Level 5 (HTML5) features, Asynchronous JavaScript and Extensible Markup Language (AJAX), Dynamic Hypertext Markup Language (DHTML) and Document Object Model (DOM) scripting on modern browsers while maintaining compatibility and functionality for legacy browsers. The framework includes a unified set of pre-tested and configurable components used in the development process.

This product is available in three editions: Standard, Pro, and Premium. Each edition shares the same core set of functions, with the Premium edition being the most fully-featured. The scope of this entry includes all editions.

Sencha Ext JS is made available under Commercial License or the GNU General Public License version 3 (GPLv3). The Commercial License requires the payment of a fee for each Designated User (i.e. developer). If users choose not to pay a fee and use the GPLv3 license, they are required to release the source code of any program that the user distributes that uses Ext JS. If the user chooses to pay for a Commercial License, they are not required to disclose the source code.

This entry covers the Desktop Edition of this technology and not any mobile versions. Users must ensure sensitive data is properly protected in compliance with all VA regulations. Prior to use of this technology, users should check with their supervisor, Information Security Officer (ISO), Facility Chief Information Officer (CIO), or local Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) representative to ensure that all actions are consistent with current VA policies and procedures prior to implementation.
