Description: Windows-based Raman Environment (WiRE) is a software interface that interacts with hardware such as microscopes and other spectroscopy equipment. This technology controls the acquisition of Raman data and provides users with dedicated data processing and analysis options. For example, WiRE can be used to identify an unknown spectrum, remove its background, or determine the distribution of particles in megapixel-sized Raman images.

WiRE is the communication interface to a Raman instrument to control a Raman device, analyze the data and can be expanded as requirements and needs change.

Note: WiRE has a proprietary database built in to the application when it is initially installed. The data created by this technology is stored locally within the database and the technology does not have the capability to connect to any external networks.
Technology/Standard Usage Requirements: Users must ensure their use of this technology/standard is consistent with VA policies and standards, including, but not limited to, VA Handbooks 6102 and 6500; VA Directives 6004, 6513, and 6517; and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, including Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). Users must ensure sensitive data is properly protected in compliance with all VA regulations. Prior to use of this technology, users should check with their supervisor, Information Security Officer (ISO), Facility Chief Information Officer (CIO), or local Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) representative to ensure that all actions are consistent with current VA policies and procedures prior to implementation.
