Description: Home Therapy System (HTS) iNet is a computerized binocular home vision therapy program. The technology allows users to adjunct the in-office therapy protocol or to utilize HTS iNet as a standalone home therapy program. HTS iNet is designed to improve eye muscle coordination and strength in a step-by-step manner and may only be used if prescribed by physicians. The regimen incorporates three stages: improving muscle function, performing muscle functions without effort, and repeating exercises to build new habits.

Each exercise requires using the mouse or arrow keys on the computer`s keyboard to respond to different targets. When responding correctly, the program slightly increases the difficulty of the exercise while responding incorrectly slightly decreases the difficultly of the exercise. A `beep` tone is used for every correct response and a `boop` tone is used for every incorrect response. Progress and performance controls the exercise regimen so that it is automatically customized to needs of the user.

This technology utilizes a proprietary database structure. The files are only accessible through the program to decrypt and read the file. Each userID account for this technology contains a `userprefs.lst` file. This encrypted file contains the data structure for all the data, results, times, dates, etc. The userID represents a file transfer protocol (FTP) account on the vendor`s server that stores this data for the doctor to review. The vendor uses a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) secured HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) tunnel to encrypt the normal FTP traffic to and from the server. The files are also stored locally on the computer. Additionally, the program can also be run in offline mode. In this case, the data is only saved to the local computer.

This entry covers the Desktop Edition of this technology and not any mobile versions. Please note that the implementation of mobile technology applications that operate on Mobile Operating Systems must be reviewed and approved by the Mobile Technology and Endpoint Security Engineering Team: http://vaww.eie.va.gov/SysDesign/CS/MT/default.aspx
