Description: The Welch Allyn Connex Central Station (CS) provides clinicians with a centralized, real-time status of all monitored patients in a dashboard format. This technology can be integrated with hospital information systems (HIS) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems, so intermittent vitals and continuous monitoring data are automatically documented into the patient chart, giving providers immediate access to patient data. Additionally, patient alarms can be sent directly to clinicians via the optional Alarm Notification Interface.

This product uses an underlying, encrypted Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server database for the server component that sends messages, and connects to existing HIS and EMR systems to update patient records. Data captured by hardware monitoring devices can be viewed at the Connex CS workstation and sent to the facility`s HIS through the Connex CS server and Health Level 7 (HL7) messaging. An Admit, Discharge, and Transfer (ADT) interface is required for all HL7 deployments, which is a one-way connection between the Connex CS Server and the healthcare facility`s HIS. When a formatted ADT message is sent, the CS Connex Server will respond with an HL7 acknowledgement message to the HIS system.
