Description: Adaptive Behavior and Assessment System, Edition III (ABAS-III) is used to evaluate people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and assess adaptive behavior in individuals from birth to 89 years of age. This behavior rating scale measures a person`s ability to live independently. ABAS-III is useful in evaluating individuals with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, learning disabilities, neuropsychological disorders, and sensory or physical impairments.

ABAS-III is compatible with state and federal special education classification systems, covers the 10 adaptive skills specified in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th Edition, Text Revision (DSM-IV-TR), and generates scores that are consistent with the American Association on Intellectual and Development Disabilities (AAIDD) definition of intellectual disability.
