Description: eFilm Workstation is a stand-alone medical imaging application used to view, manipulate, and manage medical images. eFilm Workstation provides users a full diagnostic quality workstation and image review station as well as functionality for dedicated Compact Disc (CD)/Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) burning and Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) printing. Digital images can be displayed, analyzed, processed, and stored on workstations and laptops using this software. When viewing images, users can adjust window width and level, perform image stacking, annotate and measure regions of interest, and perform various other image alterations.

Upon installation, this technology configures a Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server database to store data. Per the vendor, this technology includes additional encryption capabilities for when Personally Identifiable Information (PII)/Protected Health Information (PHI) is stored in this database.

eFilm Workstation has optional functionality to connect to iConnect Cloud, a cloud-based image storage and management technology.

Technology/Standard Usage Requirements: Users must ensure their use of this technology/standard is consistent with VA policies and standards, including, but not limited to, VA Handbooks 6102 and 6500; VA Directives 6004, 6513, and 6517; and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, including Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). Users must ensure sensitive data is properly protected in compliance with all VA regulations. Prior to use of this technology, users should check with their supervisor, Information Security Officer (ISO), Facility Chief Information Officer (CIO), or local Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) representative to ensure that all actions are consistent with current VA policies and procedures prior to implementation.
Section 508 Information: This technology qualifies for a legally-defined Exception (Fundamental Alteration) as determined by the Section 508 Office and will not need a 508 assessment prior to being available in the TRM.
