Description: The CareTone Internet Protocol (IP) Management System (CIMS) allows clinicians to connect CareTone Ultra IP Stethoscope senders and receivers together over an Internet Protocol (IP) network. CIMS operates independently without the need for a data channel from a video conferencing system or computer at each clinical location. The CareTone Adapter allows senders and receivers to have individually assigned IP addresses without the need for a computer. The CareTone Adapter connects to any CareTone Ultra Stethoscope, and connects to a local area network through the RJ45 Ethernet connector on the adapter. The CareTone Stethoscope, along with CIMS, allow organizations to connect several stethoscopes in any configuration from hospital-to-clinic, clinic-to-clinic, hospital-to-home, clinic-to-home, and ambulance-to-hospital.

Users must ensure sensitive data is properly protected in compliance with all VA regulations. Prior to use of this technology, users should check with their supervisor, Information Security Officer (ISO), Facility Chief Information Officer (CIO), or local Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) representative to ensure that all actions are consistent with current VA policies and procedures prior to implementation.
