Description: Picis Perioperative Solution, is an end-to-end software solution that assists hospital surgical units by creating a business operation that contributes to the overall health of the hospital. The technology provides analytics and reporting solutions for hospital data as well as patient tracking and supply automation to enhance the quality of care.

This entry only covers the Perioperative package and does not include the other related applications covered by Picis such as: the Anesthesia Manager, the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) manager and the Critical Care Manger. While these technologies can be purchased and packaged together, they can also be purchased and packaged separately or in various combinations.

This software leverages Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server as a long-term database that stores all information documented from this technology.
Technology/Standard Usage Requirements: Users must ensure their use of this technology/standard is consistent with VA policies and standards, including, but not limited to, VA Handbooks 6102 and 6500; VA Directives 6004, 6513, and 6517; and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, including Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). Users must ensure sensitive data is properly protected in compliance with all VA regulations. Prior to use of this technology, users should check with their supervisor, Information Security Officer (ISO), Facility Chief Information Officer (CIO), or local Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) representative to ensure that all actions are consistent with current VA policies and procedures prior to implementation.
