Description: The 3M Clean-Trace Data Trending Software is a hygiene monitoring solution that is used for trending and analyzing adenosine triphosphate (ATP) hygiene data. This technology allows users to analyze results and produce reports.

The 3M Clean-Trace Data Trending Software is a cloud-based program, which is accessible from any computer with an active Internet connection, running a Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) 5-compliant browser. This technology is hosted both externally and on VA premises. The vendor provides two files within a compressed .ZIP file. One is an executable (*.exe) and the other is a Microsoft Installation package file (*.msi). The executable launches the installation file. The installation package contains the Universal Serial Bus (USB) driver so the NGi luminometer (hardware) device can communicate with the Clean-Trace servers and display the status via a Graphical User Interface (GUI). No patient data is gathered by the Clean-Trace NGi luminometer. VA has the capability to install the software at the local machine level or deploy it across the network via a Silent Install.

This technology stores hygiene data such as measurements, plans, and test points in a Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server database that resides on external vendor servers. No patient data is collected and only individuals who are authorized can upload data to the servers. The Clean-Trace servers and database are housed at the 3M Tier-3 data center, which is based in the 3M global headquarters in St Paul, Minnesota. Data is not encrypted on servers. However, each message within the communication process between VA computers and the 3M Clean-Trace servers is transmitted via Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) 128-bit encryption and authenticated via user identification (ID) and strong password. Each measurement is identified via a Globally Unique Identifier (GUID) which has no meaning outside of the database. Reverse proxies and multiple firewalls are used to secure access to the hosting center.

The TRM decisions in this entry only apply to technologies and versions owned, operated, managed, patched, and version-controlled by VA. This includes technologies deployed as software installations on VMs within VA-controlled cloud environments (e.g., VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC)).
