Description: The Apelon Distributed Terminology System (DTS) provides comprehensive terminology services in enterprise, regional, and national distributed application environments. Using a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), DTS provides support for national and international data standards as well as local vocabularies. Additionally, DTS includes a set of command line utilities for creating a Knowledgebase, importing, publishing, and exporting content, and generating content change reports.

This technology utilizes a Knowledgebase (KB) to communicate concepts, terms, and relationships to clients in a network. This KB may be deployed in either a Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server 2016 database, version 12c of the Oracle database, or version 5.6 of the MySQL database. Users must ensure they only configure this technology with TRM approved technologies.
Technology/Standard Usage Requirements: Users must ensure their use of this technology/standard is consistent with VA policies and standards, including, but not limited to, VA Handbooks 6102 and 6500; VA Directives 6004, 6513, and 6517; and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, including Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). Users must ensure sensitive data is properly protected in compliance with all VA regulations. Prior to use of this technology, users should check with their supervisor, Information Security Officer (ISO), Facility Chief Information Officer (CIO), or local Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) representative to ensure that all actions are consistent with current VA policies and procedures prior to implementation.
