Description: Apache Multipurpose Infrastructure for Network Applications (MINA) is a Java network application framework designed to develop high performance and high scalability network applications. This technology provides a common Input/Output (I/O) vision to an application that needs to communicate over Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), User Datagram Protocol (UDP), or other mechanisms, and masks the difference between connected and connectionless protocols.

This technology does not utilize a database to store data.

This technology is available in two editions which are differentiated by versioning schemes. The current editions are released under Apache MINA 2.0.x and Apache MINA 2.1.x versions. This entry covers both editions. For more information on the differences between these editions, please visit the `Reference` tab.
