Description: Med Display is the software interface installed on a personal computer (PC) controlling Howard Medical HI-Paradigm Medical Carts, which stores and dispenses medication. Med Display, one of three applications affiliated with this medical cart, is a Personal Computer-based graphical, on-screen user interface for controlling access to the electronic locking storage compartment. Using this software allows the user to open and close drawers electronically, indicate individual drawers that are open, display how much time is remaining until the drawers will relock, and manage user lists on the cart.

This technology installs a proprietary database locally. However, for those facilities employing a wireless network combined with a computing solution, it may be useful to place the database on a server for file-sharing and/or back-up purposes. The database is used to maintain users and associated user Identification in the cart. Reports can be exported in either HyperText Markup Language (HTML) or Microsoft Excel format. The HTML format provides a graphic view of the data, whereas the Excel export enables users to manipulate the data for needed requirements.
Technology/Standard Usage Requirements: Users must ensure their use of this technology/standard is consistent with VA policies and standards, including, but not limited to, VA Handbooks 6102 and 6500; VA Directives 6004, 6513, and 6517; and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, including Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS).
