Description: ZebraDesigner is a label design software that offers a barcode printing solution for users of Zebra branded label printers. This product includes a What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) label designer interface for creating and printing barcode labels and specific printer configuration and diagnostic utilities.


ZebraDesigner is offered in Essentials and Pro editions. The Essentials edition does not have a licensing fee associated with it and includes all the base functionality of the software. The Pro edition has a licensing fee associated with it and includes additional database connectivity and Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) capabilities. The scope of this entry is for both editions.


The Essentials edition of this technology does not utilize a database, as labels created by this technology are saved to the user`s local drive. The Pro edition of this technology can connect to any Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) complaint database including My Structured Query Language (MySQL), Microsoft Access, Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server, and Oracle Database to store and retrieve labels.

Technology/Standard Usage Requirements: Users must ensure their use of this technology/standard is consistent with VA policies and standards, including, but not limited to, VA Handbooks 6102 and 6500; VA Directives 6004, 6513, and 6517; and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, including Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). Users must ensure sensitive data is properly protected in compliance with all VA regulations. Prior to use of this technology, users should check with their supervisor, Information Security Officer (ISO), Facility Chief Information Officer (CIO), or local Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) representative to ensure that all actions are consistent with current VA policies and procedures prior to implementation.
