Description: Imprivata Caradigm Single Sign-On (SSO) and Context Management (CM) is designed to enable healthcare providers to quickly and securely log-in to clinical applications based on entry of their Active Directory credentials, and, optionally, interact with one of a number of supported authentication technologies, such as passive proximity cards and smartcards. Additionally, this technology enables context sharing between applications, allowing users to synchronize their views with respect to patient data or other clinical data.

This technology is hosted on VA premises. There is a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) database (OpenLDAP) on all servers that is used to store configuration data. The servers support encryption with encryption type Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).

Please note that the optional component, Privacy Auditor, collects data for activities related to user access, application usage, and patient access, and stores the data in a Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server database.

The TRM decisions in this entry only apply to technologies and versions owned, operated, managed, patched, and version-controlled by VA. This includes technologies deployed as software installations on VMs within VA-controlled cloud environments (e.g. VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC)). Cloud services provided by the VAEC, which are listed in the VAEC Service Catalog, and those controlled and managed by an external Cloud Service Provider (i.e. SaaS) are not in the purview of the TRM. For more information on the use of cloud services and cloud-based products within VA, including VA private clouds, please see the Enterprise Cloud Solutions Office (ECSO) Portal at:

Please note: there is no dedicated webpage for this technology. A datasheet is posted in its place. Users should contact the vendor for more information.

Users must ensure sensitive data is properly protected in compliance with all VA regulations. Prior to use of this technology, users should check with their supervisor, Information Security Officer (ISO), Facility Chief Information Officer (CIO), or local Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) representative to ensure that all actions are consistent with current VA policies and procedures prior to implementation.
