Description: Java Enterprise Edition Software Development Kit (SDK) is a bundle of software and utilities, such as APIs, Application Servers, Debuggers, Documentation, Code Samples, Tutorials, GlassFish server, MySQL and IDE Netbeans that support the development of Java EE applications. It is important to note that bundled software from other sources and providers that is not unique to the Java SDK that is included in this SDK bundle such as Glass Fish, MySQL and IDE Netbeans must also have their own TRM approval to be used. The purpose of this entry is to approve the utilities and software that are unique to this SDK and provided by the vendor such as the API`s. Tutorials, Documentation, etc.

Java EE provides the standard while the Java EE SDK applies the development functions. The SDK should not be confused with the Java Development Kits (JDKs) and the Java Runtime Environments (JREs) which have separate entries on the TRM. Java EE is a superset of APIs that build on the foundation provided by Java SE and the standard Java Development Kit (JDK).

This is used when the technology can store information on cloud servers, whether that is private cloud solutions such as Google Drive, OneDrive, etc., or the VA Enterprise Cloud systems. The TRM decisions in this entry only apply to technologies and versions owned, operated, managed, patched, and version-controlled by VA. This includes technologies deployed as software installations on VMs within VA-controlled cloud environments (e.g., VA Enterprise Cloud (VAEC)). Cloud services provided by the VAEC, which are listed in the VAEC Service Catalog, and those controlled and managed by an external Cloud Service Provider (i.e., SaaS) are not in the purview of the TRM. For more information on the use of cloud services and cloud-based products within VA, including VA private clouds, please see the Enterprise Cloud Solutions Office (ECSO) Portal at: https://dvagov.sharepoint.com/sites/OITECSO
