Description: The MARS Ambulatory electrocardiogram (ECG) Software provides a set of features for analyzing, reviewing, editing, and reporting on ECG data. This technology includes a variety of interfaces that allow for the MARS system to communicate with external and third-party applications and systems. The Client Server interface enables the networking option for setting up the MARS system in a client-server configuration. MARS supports acquisition from a number of digital Holter recorders via a Bluetooth connection. MARS also supports acquisition from the CARESCAPE CIC Pro clinical information system.

This technology is available in three editions; Enterprise, Department, and Office. The Enterprise edition of this technology is designed for large, multi-department environments. The Department edition is designed for small clinics or single-department environments. The Office edition is designed for single-office environments. The base functionality of all three editions is similar. The scope of this entry covers all three editions.

This technology stores data in a proprietary database. The vendor states that this is not designed as a permanent database and suggests that data be archived to an external drive or network share.
Technology/Standard Usage Requirements: Users must ensure their use of this technology/standard is consistent with VA policies and standards, including, but not limited to, VA Handbooks 6102 and 6500; VA Directives 6004, 6513, and 6517; and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards, including Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS). Users must ensure sensitive data is properly protected in compliance with all VA regulations. Prior to use of this technology, users should check with their supervisor, Information Security Officer (ISO), Facility Chief Information Officer (CIO), or local Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) representative to ensure that all actions are consistent with current VA policies and procedures prior to implementation.
