Description: Fibre Channel (FC) Backbone (BB) - 5 (FC-BB-5) is the International Committee for Information Technology Standards (INCITS) T11 standard covering Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE). FC-BB-5 defines the functions and mappings for transporting Fibre Channel over different network technologies.

FC-BB-5 defines four distinct Fibre Channel mappings: FC over Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), FC over Transparent Generic Framing Procedure (GFPT), FC over Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), and FC over Ethernet.

In 2009, the FCoE technology that had been defined as part of INCITS T11 FC-BB-5 standard was forwarded to American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for publication.
